Clear Sans Screen
Clear Sans is a rational geometric sans serif that retains the warmth of hand-painting because Neil believes “clean, geometric, and precise doesn’t have to be cold and expressionless.”
The original skeleton was hand-painted in 2008 and the typeface was completed soon after “at the behest of an old friend for their identity.” As usual, Neil expanded it, but didn’t release it because there were so many similar faces already. “Years later, I had a chance to rediscover it and came to the conclusion that it could be improved, expanded in a logical and useful way, and introduced.”
Conscious of the rise of web fonts and embedded type in applications, Neil developed Text and Screen fonts, which use larger x-heights, space-saving widths, and logical, simplified weights.
Stylistics alternates, small caps, stylistic sets, ordinals, fractions, tabular and old-style numerals, and unicorns. (Yes, you read that right.)
Also available: Clear Sans and Clear Sans Text.
