Bonsai was inspired by the worn lead type in a book titled Handbook on Bonsai: Special Techniques, but it would be 20 years before Brian would rediscover the book and create the typeface. Two weights (roman and true italic) with more than 800 characters, including alternates, tons of ligatures, and old-style, lining, proportional, and tabular figures.
