Texas Hero
$39.00
Texas Hero is Brian’s first typeface. He created it because he thought the graphic design community “might find useful a digital typeface that mimicked the classic look of 19th-century handwriting.”
His mother happened to be a volunteer at the Center for American History at the University of Texas at Austin. She made copies of letters by a few famous Texans, but “Thomas J. Rusk’s penmanship caught my eye as the most accessible. I hadn’t realized at the time what a challenge it’d be to render a realistic-looking script face, but the result did, in fact, fill a niche.”
Nearly 550 glyphs, including contextual and stylistic alternates, ordinals, and discretionary ligatures.
