Antiquarian was inspired by the lettering on a page from Henri Abraham Chatelain’sAtlas Historique. Brian’s earlier Antiquarian Scribe font was modeled after penmanship used in the body text of the atlas. With Antiquarian, he wanted to digitize the roman lettering. “The letterforms are strong and have a deft, organic quality. I can’t fully explain it, but this antique alphabet seems suitable for many applications.”
